About this event

The currency that wins attention, builds trust and delivers results.

In an increasingly distrusting world where competition and cost pressures are ubiquitous, attention is scarce, and people are frequently minded to prefer fictions that suit them over facts that do not, the ability to connect with and influence others is critical to any leader’s productivity and success.

Join us for a thought-provoking, interactive, and stimulating conversation with the Royal Society nominated author and influence expert Steve Martin. Drawing from recent work published with The Economist, we will explore how influence is key to turning plans and strategies into compelling visions that open hearts and minds; how influence can turn sceptics and doubters into advocates and believers; and why a workplace without positive influence is a workplace where nothing changes and nothing gets done.

We will discuss how influence really works. Not just the factors mandated by logic, economics and company policy, but the unspoken, hidden rules too. Those that are rarely talked about or even missed entirely; yet that have an outsized impact on who and what gets listened to and done, and who and what gets ignored.

Expect thoughtful conversation, engaging debate and insightful company.
